Do I need both Krisp and Otter?

The short answer: Krisp alone may suffice if its call cleanup, transcripts and notes pass your meeting workflow. Otter alone may suffice when your existing call audio is already clear and its capture and exports fit. Both can serve distinct needs when Krisp improves live audio while Otter provides a required meeting archive or workflow. Test that boundary before paying for duplicate notes.

Suggested jobs: Noise cancellation, Meeting transcription, Meeting summary. You can change them and add your own costs. Entered costs and notes stay out of URLs.

Call clarity and meeting records are different jobs

Meeting workflow: decide which job each subscription owns
Your workflowKrispOtterDecision to test
Live call audioCore includes noise cleanup as well as a meeting notetaker. [1]The checked plan page focuses on capture and meeting workflows; it does not establish equivalent live noise cleanup. [4]If your meeting app already sounds clear, do you need a separate cleanup tool?
Meeting capture and notesBot-free capture is listed; use the Krisp microphone and speaker to capture the full call. [1][2]Plans list Zoom, Teams and Meet capture, live transcripts and meeting chat. [4]Test host permissions and auto-join behavior on the meeting app you actually use.
Language of the recordingThe capture guide lists 16 transcription languages, including Russian and Hindi. [2]The language guide lists English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Mandarin with Simplified Chinese text. [5]Translation or accent support is not the same as transcribing that language.
Export and integrationTranscript TXT and recording MP3 downloads are documented. Core lists integrations; Salesforce is listed under Advanced. [3][1]Basic text export is TXT; paid text formats include DOCX, PDF and SRT. CRM access has limits. [6][4]A required export or CRM workflow can justify a separate archive after a real test.

Billing and limits: compare the plan you would keep

Krisp

Core shows USD 16 per user/month with monthly billing and USD 8 per user/month under the annual option; Advanced shows USD 30 and USD 15 respectively. The page offers a seven-day trial without a card. Core includes 10 GB storage; Advanced 60 GB. Confirm the annual checkout total and commitment before subscribing. [1]

Otter

Pro’s standard web price is USD 16.99 per user/month, or USD 8.33 per user/month under annual billing. The lower India promotion requires an India-issued card and is not a general price. Pro lists 1,200 in-app recording minutes, ten file imports monthly and 90 minutes per meeting. Basic lists 300 monthly transcription minutes and three lifetime imports. [4]

Use your own bills in the checker. Annual equivalents, promotional eligibility, taxes and app-store billing are not interchangeable; no savings are assumed.

Consent, saved meetings and switching risks

Before the trial, inform participants and obtain the consent required for that meeting. Bot-free capture still needs participant notice and your organization’s approval. Krisp documents a notice setting and warns that some platforms block its messages or audio prompts; confirm people were informed another way. [2]

Export recordings, transcripts and important decisions before downgrading. Otter restricts export by role, and bulk export is listed for Business and above. [6] Test the required format rather than assuming that a plain-text file recreates speaker metadata, comments or a searchable archive.

Our record does not prove that Otter lacks noise cancellation. Actual audio quality, mixed-language accuracy, retention and the exact integration permissions remain untested for your account. Krisp’s capture options also vary by platform and settings. [7]

A three-task trial before the next renewal

Use the plan you would keep. Record corrections, time spent and any blocked step. This is an editorial trial, not a measured winner.

  1. With informed participants, run a short noisy call in your actual meeting app. Compare live audio with cleanup on and off, and confirm that every speaker is captured.
  2. Capture the same approved meeting in each tool using your real language. Check names, numbers, speaker changes, decisions, owners and deadlines against the recording.
  3. Export one transcript and recording, then send a test summary through your required integration on the plan you would keep. Check permissions, participant notices and auto-join settings before the next real call.

One tool may suffice if it passes every required task at normal volume. Keep both if each passes a different essential task; verify more if either required job remains untested.
