Do I need Fireflies and Otter?
Two paid meeting assistants deserve a review if both capture the same meetings and nobody uses their distinct outputs. Transcription overlap alone does not prove that the recordings, language support, exports or team controls are equivalent.
Test on the same real meeting
Compare speaker names, action items, search results and the notes sent to your team. Test accents, background noise and specialist vocabulary. Count corrections and follow-up work. Do not assume advertised transcription minutes predict accuracy on your calls.
Where the products may differ for you
Fireflies lists meeting search, summaries, recordings and integrations. Otter lists live transcription, meeting AI chat and plan-specific exports. Check your meeting platform, file-import workflow, required language and CRM integration on the exact plan. Neither product should be treated as a universal replacement based on this checklist.
A safe consolidation test
Choose a primary assistant, test it on several calls and check recording consent and bot admission. Export important history from the other tool before cancelling. If different clients or teams require separate tools, both can be justified. If the second is merely a backup, check whether its free tier provides enough capacity.
Price and limits
Fireflies Pro is shown at $18/seat/month monthly or $10 with annual billing. Otter Pro lists $16.99/user/month monthly; annual and promotional displays differ, so confirm checkout. Otter Basic lists 300 monthly transcription minutes and three lifetime file imports. Compare seats, storage and imports alongside headline price.
