Serpstat vs Mangools: do you need both SEO tools?
Keyword research and backlink checks overlap. The harder decision is whether your actual plan covers technical audits, the tracking schedule and the reports you deliver.
For topic discovery and periodic ranking checks, test whether Mangools alone completes the work. If a technical site crawl is a recurring requirement, Serpstat deserves a closer look. Paying for both is worth reviewing when each produces the same research shortlist; keep both only when a distinct output justifies the extra bill.
Which work would actually disappear if you cancelled one?
Keyword and competitor research: shared jobs
The official overview describes keyword discovery and competitor research. Source.
KWFinder supports searches by keyword and competitor domain or URL, including location-specific research. Source.
Try one real decision: choose a topic, country and language you serve. Build a shortlist in each tool, then explain which page you would write and why. Different difficulty scores are different models; they do not establish which tool delivers better business results.
Technical site audits: a potential reason to keep Serpstat
Serpstat Site Audit describes technical crawling, issue reports and scheduled checks. Its plan table excludes JavaScript rendering from Individual but includes it on Team. Mangools presents SiteProfiler as domain metrics; the sources reviewed here do not establish a comparable full-site technical crawler. Mangools domain-metrics source. Audit source · Plan source.
Before replacing it: list the errors, crawl size and rendering requirements you must check. Reproduce the report on your own site. Mangools plus a separate crawler may be a valid setup, but include that crawler's price and maintenance in the comparison.
Backlink investigation: test useful findings
Serpstat lists backlink analysis among its core features; Mangools provides LinkMiner. Serpstat source · Mangools source. Use the same competitor and identify relevant linking pages you can act on. Compare filters, usable exports and history. A larger headline link count alone does not settle the decision.
AI workflows: check inclusion before treating either as unique
The current Mangools pricing table includes API/MCP and AI Search Watcher PRO in its three displayed bundles. Serpstat's MCP documentation requires Team or higher for API access; its pricing page separately presents LLM Brand Monitor. Do not assume that monitoring product is included in the cheapest Serpstat SEO plan. Mangools source · Serpstat MCP source.
Your requirement: distinguish conversational access to SEO data from monitoring brand mentions in AI answers. Specify the prompts, markets, models and report you need; those are different jobs.
Tracked keywords and position checks are different units
Mangools' current table lists 200 tracked keywords on Basic and 700 on Premium, updated weekly; Agency lists 1,500 with daily updates. Serpstat's rank tracker supports a configurable schedule; its plan table expresses capacity as monthly position checks. Mangools allowances · Serpstat tracking.
Build your workload before comparing the number
Write down your keyword list, sites, countries or cities, devices and required update frequency. Ask how that exact setup consumes each plan's allowance. A monthly pool of checks is not directly comparable to a count of tracked keywords. A plan that refreshes weekly may fit a monthly content review and still miss a daily client deliverable.
Compare the complete setup, with the same billing commitment
USD list prices observed on the official pricing toggles on :
Serpstat
Individual: $69/month on monthly billing; $50/month equivalent with annual discount. Team: $129/month monthly; $100/month equivalent annually. Official pricing.
Mangools
Basic: $61/month monthly; $37.70/month equivalent annually ($452.40/year). Premium: $81 / $52.70. Agency: $141 / $97.70, respectively. Official pricing.
Individual and Basic differ in audit functionality and tracking units; these are not identical packages. Price the plan that meets your workload, any separate crawler, extra seats and reporting dependencies. Check taxes, promotions and renewal terms at checkout. An annual monthly equivalent does not mean you can pay or cancel month by month.
KWFinder describes limited free usage, which can help you inspect a small keyword task. Serpstat advertises a seven-day trial; its FAQ describes card verification and automatic paid renewal unless cancelled. Read the terms and renewal date before activating it. StackDiet does not activate trials or collect payment details. Free-use source · Trial source.
A switch should preserve the next deliverable
- Export before changing access. Save tracked terms, locations, device settings, important reports and historical snapshots. Check which history can actually be imported; recreating a keyword list does not recreate its history.
- Rebuild one real workflow. Generate the next client report or content shortlist using the replacement alone. Verify shared access, exports and automated connections.
- Test the critical gap. If cancelling Serpstat, prove the audit workflow elsewhere. If cancelling Mangools, reproduce any required AI monitoring and reporting instead of assuming it transfers.
- Check renewal and dependencies. Identify the prepaid period, cancellation route, API consumers and report recipients. Cancellation need not refund an annual commitment.
- Decide from the test. Keep one when it completes the required work. Keep both when each has a recurring, distinct contribution worth its cost. If neither does, revisit the requirements.

One site, occasional content planning
Start with your own Search Console data and a specific question. Limited keyword research may be enough before adding any subscription. If you pay for a toolkit, test the focused workflow first. Build a lean SEO stack →
Recurring technical audits or client reporting
Let the report and refresh schedule define the plan. A lower sticker price has little value if another service is needed to restore a missing deliverable.
You already pay for both
Write down the most recent useful job each completed independently. Shared keyword and backlink research suggests a review, not automatic cancellation. A distinct audit or AI-monitoring workflow may justify both.
